Drinks Wine World: What kind of wine do in Europe?

Germany, Austria, Hungary, Portugal and Bulgaria is not as famous for its vineyards, as France, Italy and Spain, and the priorities of each country few others. However, wine with great success caught on in those parts of Europe, as Bacchus - being omnipresent.

Wine production in Germany, as elsewhere in Europe, governed by a special law on the fault. Unlike most European countries, in Germany there is no clear regional classification of wines - the emphasis here is on quality characteristics:

- Deutscher Tafelwein - table wines from grapes grown in Germany - simple, fresh and inexpensive;
- Landwein - local wines (usually dry) and manufactured in one of the 17 wine regions of the country (whose name is indicated on the label) from riper grapes and more stringent standards;

- Qualitatswein bestimmer Anbaugebiete (QbA) - high quality, but not too expensive wines of certain wine regions - wines of one of the 13 allowed regions of Germany. This category includes most known German wines, such as Liebfraumilch («Milk beloved woman"), or, for example, Schwarze Katze («Black Cat").

- Qualitatswein mit Pradikat (QmP) - a certain quality of maturity, very high quality wines, produced on a very strict criteria, controlled by the German pedantry, so QmP on the label - a guarantee of a really good drink in a bottle. These wines contain natural grape sugar, because the addition of artificial sugar is forbidden.

In addition, German wines are classified by degree of ripeness of grapes at harvest time, determined by the contents of sugar in it. This classification is interesting and deserves attention. So, depending on the length of vintage distinguished:

Kabinett - Dry and semi-dry light wine from the fully ripe grapes - the perfect aperitif.
Spatlese - wine "late harvest" - made from grapes harvested one week after the beginning of the general collection. They also dry and moist, but have more intense flavor.
Auslese - «from selected grapes - wine from hand-selected, most ripe fruit crop. These wines with a delicate bouquet and a noble taste, dry, moist and sweet (as a rule, are in need of exposure).
Beerenauslese - «selected for berry - sweet dessert wine from overripe berries with powerful flavor and aroma.
Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) - «selection zaizyumlennyh berries" - very rare, very sweet and concentrated "honey" of wine.
Eiswein - rare wine from berries collected after the first frost - very sweet and long-lived.

As an example of German wine can cause dry white KONIGSMOSEL Riesling (Riesling with intense aroma of citrus and tropical fruits - a cheese and salads) and white sweet Ume Pflaume DR.ZENZEN (flavored drink based on white wine and plum extract class "crazy" - is good as an aperitif).

In general, German wine (well, at least in my opinion), as well as German chocolate - sturdy, high quality and fully compliant with "Kvadratish-Praktish-Gut!".

Much the same can be said about the wines of Austria. The most typical representatives of the Austrian wine: dry red Blaufrankisch Prestige LENZ MOZER (ruby-purple wine with the aroma of fruit and vanilla, sour - to the game and smelly cheese), dry white wine Grüner Vetliner Prestige LENZ MOZER (greenish wine with the smell and taste of spices and pepper note - to fish, poultry and cheese) and white sweet Eiswein Elfenhof («ice wine elves, chilled to 5-8 ° C, it perfectly complements desserts),.

Portuguese wines similar in style to the Spanish. In the local supermarket I found a white powder MATEUS (young wine with the aroma of fruit - just right for an appetizer) and red wine ARISTOCRATA.

But the Hungarian wine is rightly considered the most interesting of Europe after the three whales - France, Spain and Italy. Or even not after, but along with them. By the way, the wines of Hungary are close to our domestic taste in force in consonance with the long familiar to us wines from Moldova. This, of course, the famous Kadarka (tart and velvety, with an aroma of black currant - with poultry, veal, cheese and unsweetened snack), and red dry Szigetcsepi Cuvee (rich wine with venison, and meat - from an ancient wine region, formerly the property of the former Hungarian Kings) and Kekfrankos Szigetvin (light, spicy wine from the banks of the Tisza River). Serve them slightly chilled, up to 16-18 degrees. On the white Hungarian I never heard, but probably just because unprepared: in the end, I - no sommelier.

Also famous Bulgarian wines: excellent all known white sweet Tamyanka Frakia (light wine for desserts and fruits), and red dry Kadarka Frakia (fresh wine to fruit and cheese), Merlot Augusta (dark ruby, with aromas of spices and fruit - to Meat and gamebirds), Cabernet Sauvignon TRAIANA (soft wine with the aroma of ripe fruit), Tcherga (God, I do not know how it is translated from the Bulgarian, but in Ukrainian "Čergov" - a "turn." amusing name, but wine - excellent, ruby color with intense berry flavor, quite universal - and the meat, and poultry, and cheese, and snacks).

Finally, semi-sweet red "Whispers of the Nun" (assabmlyazhnoe flavorful ruby wine). "Whispers of the Nun" - wine from the best grapes of France, also produced by French technology, but produced in Bulgaria. But the name of his most reprinted in Russia and is operated by our winemakers-countrymen, and in the tail and mane. Oh, what only variations "Monk" I never met the Russian and Ukrainian counters: "The soul of a monk," "Blood Monk," Monk's Heart "- and I always shudder to expect, what else is part of the unfortunate monk will be offered to the consumer inventive traders wine ....

In fact, we now know about the wines of Europe enough to be able to choose a drink for any occasion, mood, and to any dish. As usual, I remind you that the "excessive use of alcoholic beverages harms your health", but would like to emphasize that the wine - gourmet stuff, it was created in order to savor, not to get drunk. Drunk faster, cheaper and, above all, honest - vodka. But that's another story, and I will not tell her, because I do not drink vodka, and, therefore, know little about it.
